At Strategy First Educational Services LLC, we understand that education is an
important part of life at any age. We strive to help learners to develop strategies to
achieve any educational goal, from improving reading and writing, to preparing for tests,
to getting ready for the academic rigor of college. A substantial body of research on
strategy instruction with elementary and secondary students as well as adult learners
has demonstrated strong effects on learning. At Strategy First, our professionals will
help students become proficient learners by developing internal cognitive strategies as
well as self-regulation strategies such as goal setting, self-monitoring, and reflection. No
matter what learning challenges students encounter, we can assist them reach their
academic goals.
Eric Nefferdorf, Ed.D is an English Faculty member at Delaware Technical Community College and an adjunct faculty member at West Chester University. Eric Nefferdorf, Ed.D is an English Faculty member at Delaware Technical Community College and an adjunct faculty member at West Chester University. He has also taught summer bridge writing courses for incoming students at the University of Delaware. He has 27 years of classroom experience teaching pre-college-level English courses as well as 100 and 200-level First Year Composition courses. As a writing teacher and researcher, he was the principal investigator and co-author of a study, “Effects of Self-Regulated Strategy Instruction in an Accelerated Developmental English Course: A Qusai-Experimental Study” published in the peer-reviewed journal, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, in 2024. His primary research interests focus on how strategy instruction can be used effectively to help students improve reading and writing in all grades. He has presented the findings of his research at four national conferences and one regional conference. He is also the 2020 recipient of the Richard L. Venezky Award for Creative Research in Literacy from the University of Delaware for his commitment to improving learning outcomes for students.
Ann Hall Nefferdorf, M.Ed. is currently a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Teacher. She has held multiple roles in Delaware public schools in her 20-year career in education. She has taught special education at the Elementary and Middle school levels for 10 years. In this capacity, she collaborated closely with co-teachers, educational diagnosticians, and school psychologists planning, developing, and modifying instruction for students who receive special education services. She was also a middle school English Language Arts Teacher, where she provided high-quality English Language Arts instruction for a variety of learners She holds several teaching certifications including Delaware Certified Teacher of Exceptional Children Grades 1-8 and 7-12; Delaware Certified Teacher of Elementary Grades K-6; Delaware Certified Teacher of Middle-Level English Language Arts; Delaware Certified Teacher of Family and Consumer Sciences. Additionally, she has mentored new educators in the State of Delaware Teacher mentoring program.
